We could deal with a few of our recalcitrant policemen keen on taking harmless Nigerians to ATMs to forcefully extort them as armed robbers – Police spokesperson, Olumiywa Adejobi
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Pressure, has stated that the recalcitrant cops who’ve fashioned the behavior of forcing Nigerians to the ATM and banks to extort cash from them, could quickly be handled as armed robbers.
Adejobi said this on his Twitter deal with. He wrote;
”Forceful Extortion by Armed Policemen is tantamount to Armed Theft. We could deal with a few of our recalcitrant policemen who’re keen on taking harmless Nigerians to ATM, Banks or hidden arenas to forcefully extort them, with arms, as armed robbers.
By easy definition and interpretation of legislation, anybody who possesses firearms or offensive weapons and takes ones property with aspect of pressure or violence is just armed theft, nothing extra. We detest and condemn this improvement or motion which is in whole contravention of our guidelines and rules and ethics as a accountable establishment. We won’t deal with such circumstances with child gloves anymore. We urge Nigerians to report any case of this nature to our stations for mandatory motion. Thanks.”
