It doesn’t matter if you agree with it or not: every few years or so, terrible serial killer stories are dug up from the dreadful depths of the past and brought to the screens of our entertainment centres. Richard Ramirez, a rapist and serial killer who tormented residents of California from 1984 to 1985, is the focus of the documentary series Night Stalker: The Hunt For a Serial Killer, which will premiere on Netflix in 2021. (which did a fairly good job at highlighting the stories of his victims).

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a miniseries directed by Ryan Murphy and produced by Netflix, will tell the story of one of the most notorious and disturbed serial killers and rapists in history: Jeffrey Dahmer. This time around, it is Dahmer who will be brought to life on the small screen.

Who will take on the role of the vile Jeffrey? The one and only Evan Peters, a familiar face in the universe of Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story). And despite the fact that the show is meant to portray his story, which includes cannibalism, attempted zombification, and necrophilia, the reality is far more terrifying than anything that the show has to offer. To be more specific, the atrocities that were discovered inside of Jeffrey’s refrigerator in Milwaukee in 1991 are enough to completely transform a person. Let’s go on a spooky excursion through the interior of Jeffrey’s refrigerator and beyond.

In July of 1991, AP News reported that a handcuffed and frantic man led police to Jeffrey’s fly-infested apartment. The apartment was crawling with fragments of human bodies and boasted a refrigerator full of human heads — three of them to be exact. Jeffrey was arrested and charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder. There have been reports in several media publications that the refrigerator contained human hearts as well.

Jeffrey, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal, took great pleasure in performing experiments on the bodies of his victims while they were still alive. He would even make holes in his victims’ skulls and inject hydrochloric acid into their brains. Jeffrey’s behaviour earned him the nickname “the Milwaukee Cannibal.” The insane plan of the former worker at the chocolate factory to construct a sex slave zombie invariably resulted in the former worker’s demise. Jeffrey’s hobbies are a little less startling when you take into account the fact that when he was younger, he was fascinated with inspecting the remains of dead animals. (We emphasised the word slightly.)

According to a report in The Milwaukee Sentinel cited by AP News, “police found 11 skulls spread in a filing cabinet, a closet, a refrigerator, and a freezer in the man’s bedroom.” Additionally, “police uncovered three headless torsos in a vat in the man’s bedroom.” A large number of graphic images and sketches of various portions of victims’ bodies were also discovered.

The horrible slaughterhouse that was Jeffrey’s apartment understandably reeked of death, which caused neighbours to complain about a foul odour for approximately one year. This led to Jeffrey’s eviction. Jeffrey, who was clearly charming and intelligent, frequently found a way to talk himself out of trouble. This time, though, he claimed that his refrigerator was malfunctioning, which is what caused the meat that was inside to go bad.

Rolf Mueller, a police officer, was the one who made the discovery of the three severed heads in the refrigerator. He also said that the odour in the flat was overwhelming. So, that’s not up for debate.

At that time, he made the following observation: “You think you’ve seen it all out here, and then something like this happens.”

Even though Jeffrey was killed on November 29, 1994 by a fellow inmate at Columbia Correctional Institution named Christopher Scarver, his life continues to haunt and intrigue people to this day, and this is true regardless of whether or not it was for the better. After finishing this one, we are going to have a difficult time opening our refrigerators. Perhaps we could just head on over to the cabinet in the kitchen instead.
