The Governor of Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodinma has reiterated the commitment of his administration to protect members of the northern community in the state.

Recall there has been an upsurge in the spate of violence in the area after some secession movements stormed the Imo state correctional facility and aided in the escape of several prisoners. There have been several other attacks on northerners who reside in the state and conduct business.

The leadership of the northern community paid a courtesy visit to Governor Uzodimma to have an interaction with him and seek his continued support to their community in the face of recent violence perpetrated against them. The government assured them of his support to their welfare in the state.

In his own words: “This is where you live. This is where you do your business. You are stakeholders in Imo State. Nobody will drive you away, This government has no time for nonsense.”

“Don’t go for self-help. The government will help you. No arrangement by any person or group will be stronger than that of the government.

“All we need from you is information. Pray for the souls of those who lost their lives,” “Those who are after you are after me and God will not allow them to succeed. Imo State remains the most peaceful and most accommodating to the northerners in the South East.”
