They both met while working on the BBC children’s drama, Byker Grove in 1989. They have achieved so much popularity as a duo. It is also reported that they are each insured against the other’s death, with the amount reportedly being around £1 million.

As of 2021, they have jointly won the award for Most Popular TV Presenters at the National Television Award for twenty years running.
