Ricky Walter Shiffer, the man accused of breaking into an FBI office in Cincinnati, was shot and killed in a cornfield in Clinton County on Thursday, August 11, according to representatives from the FBI and the Ohio Highway State Patrol.

Shiffer, who made an effort to get past the FBI field office’s security on Thursday, fired a nail gun at police officers and flashed a weapon before running away.

According to numerous sources, Shiffer praised the attack on the U.S. Capitol Complex on January 6 and asserted that he had participated in it, despite the fact that he was never arrested for any offense connected to that.

Prior to the Thursday incident, Shiffer allegedly criticized the FBI raid on Trump’s home and published many calls to action on Truth Social, a platform for social media that Trump founded.

An in-depth look into the Ricky Walter Shiffer incident

Shiffer allegedly attempted to breach into the screening area at the FBI field office in Cincinnati on Thursday about 9 am, according to officials. He was seen carrying an AR-15 rifle and a nail gun while also wearing body armor.

Then, driving a Ford Crown Victoria, he took off towards Interstate 71. The State Highway Patrol claims that shots were fired from his automobile, and that he was being chased on the 1-71 before getting off onto State Route 73 and stopping at Smith Road, where he engaged police in gunfire.

Officials used non-lethal tactics to try to dissuade Shiffer and negotiate with him during the ensuing six-hour standoff. He resisted, nevertheless, and was ultimately killed at about 3:45 p.m.

According to reports, Clinton County Emergency Management issued a lockdown order for all buildings within one mile of the scene and instructed all occupants to remain inside.

Previous charges against Shiffer
