After a long battle with cancer, the renowned radio and television host died in January 2016 at the age of 77.

Terry Wogan had no idea he was going to die according to new information. The beloved broadcaster, who died on Sunday at the age of 77, hid his cancer diagnosis by claiming to be healing from a ‘bad back.’ The condition of the Radio Two legend was discovered to have deteriorated significantly since Christmas 2015.

A public memorial ceremony was held on September 27, the same year, following Wogan’s death and a private funeral a few weeks later.

This was held at Westminster Abbey and featured a recording of Wogan himself as well as speeches from some of his celebrity pals, including Chris Evans and Joanna Lumley. BBC Radio 2 broadcasted the service live.
