A former Guantanamo Bay detainee has reportedly been appointed because the Taliban’s appearing protection minister after the group’s takeover of Afghanistan.

Mullah Abdul Qayyum Zakir, who was born in 1973, was launched from the infamous Cuba-based camp, which is run by the US, throughout George W Bush’s Presidency in 2007, based on Arab information sources.  He was initially arrested by US forces after their invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.
