Stephen William Hawking was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who was born on January 8, 1942, in Oxford, England. He died on March 14, 2018, in Cambridge, England. He is known for his work on black holes and the origins of the universe. He was also a bestselling author and wrote several books including “A Brief History of Time” which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

Stephen Hawking Hawking was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at the age of 21. Despite being wheelchair-bound and dependent on a computerized voice system for communication, he continued his work in physics and cosmology until his death. Stephen Hawking worked on the physics of black holes. He proposed that black holes would emit subatomic particles until they eventually exploded. He also wrote best-selling books, the most famous of which was “A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes” (1988). Hawking was also known for his work on the origins of the universe and his contributions to the study of quantum gravity.
