Seth Meyers Goes Off on ‘Insane’ Trump for Praising Putin Right Before Russian Invasion

Shortly following Jimmy Kimmel went off on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson for defending Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on the eve of his country’s invasion of Ukraine, Seth Meyers devoted a sizeable chunk of his Late Night time to Trump’s praise of Putin the day just before the armed forces offensive.

“The complete world is aghast and horrified,” reported Meyers of the imminent Russian invasion, as the exhibit was recorded Wednesday afternoon. “The only persons who could potentially consider this is a excellent transfer are those unemployed fringe weirdos who go on tiny-time radio shows. “I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I mentioned, ‘This is genius,’” Trump remarked of Putin on Tuesday. “Putin declares a massive portion of the Ukraine—of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, which is excellent. So, Putin is now saying, ‘It’s impartial,’ a large portion of Ukraine. I said, ‘How good is that?’”

Trump afterwards went on to say of Putin, “Here’s a male who’s extremely savvy… I know him very well. Pretty, very well… But here’s a dude that says, you know, ‘I’m gonna declare a massive part of Ukraine independent,’ he used the word ‘independent,’ and ‘we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help continue to keep peace.’ You gotta say, that’s quite savvy.”

“No, you don’t gotta say that!” exclaimed Meyers. “I imply, effectively, perhaps you gotta say that so another person will select you up at the Moscow airport when you flee our jurisdiction.
