San Diego Zoo’s Skyfari ride vandalized, stranding 100-plus riders, police say; 4 suspects arrested

Greater than 100 riders have been caught on the San Diego Zoo’s “Skyfari Aerial Tram” gondola experience Saturday in what authorities mentioned was a case of suspected vandalism.

4 males, between ages 20 and 24, have been later arrested in reference to the case, FOX 5 of San Diego reported. They have been charged with suspicion of vandalism, the report mentioned.

The suspects allegedly have been “rocking backwards and forwards” of their gondola, knocking their gondola out of alignment with the assist cable and inflicting the whole experience to close down for greater than an hour, a witness claimed, based on the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Particulars about potential harm to the experience weren’t instantly identified.

San Diego fireplace and rescue personnel have been known as to the scene, however about 160 riders ultimately returned to the bottom after zoo workers acquired the experience working once more, the Union-Tribune reported.

Everybody was safely on the bottom by 4:34 p.m., the fire-rescue division mentioned. No accidents have been reported.

The experience lifts passengers about 40 ft from the bottom, the newspaper reported.
