A young Nigerian man wanted to escape from his escalating debt decided had to do a very weird thing.
This guy who is a sales representative of a popular pharmaceutical company allegedly faked his own abduction.

He is currently in the grips of operatives of the Anti-kidnapping And Cybercrime Unit of the Edo State Police Command.

His name is Chikezie Precious, and per what we gathered, he has been working as a sales representative for the company for about three years.

The report, according to the Standard Gazette stated that he owes the company over N900,000 and this amount is from drug sales.

He then devised a way to make the company write off his debt, as he went into hiding and raised a false alarm that he was kidnapped on the road.

To make it seem real, he dumped the company van along Ewohimi-Agbor road, left the key on the driver’s seat, and took public transport to Benin City, where he lodged into a hotel.

The report also indicated that he made his friend call the company’s management and inform them that he has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Immediately after the call was made, he switched off his mobile phones and the management immediately reported the matter at Igbanke police station.

The van was recovered and the issue transferred to the office of the Anti Kidnapping And Cybercrime Unit of the Edo state police command for further investigation.

It was during investigating that the suspect was traced to the hotel and arrested by operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit.

Speaking after his arrest, he said;

“I owe my company over N900,000, and they have been disturbing me to pay back. After too much stress, l decided to fake my kidnapping to see if they could write off the debt for me. I lodged in the hotel at Ikpoba Hill in Benin city and asked my friend to call my boss to announce my kidnapping.”

This was confirmed by the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Bello Kontongs who said;

“The suspect will be thoroughly investigated, profiled and charge to court.”
