Police arrest notorious kidnapper in Jigawa

Police in Jigawa State have arrested a 42-year-old notorious kidnapper Abdulkadir Alhassan who has been terrorizing the state and Kano State.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to PRESSINFORMAT.

He said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday at Sabon Sara village in the Ringim LGA.

Shiisu explained that the suspect is a notorious armed robber and kidnapper who has been prosecuted severally for robbery cases.

“The suspected person has recently jumped bail in a case of criminal conspiracy and Armed Robbery at magistrate court Babura,” he said.

He said the suspect confessed to having kidnapped many people from both Jigawa and Kano states.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having collected millions of naira from victims’ families as ransom.

A police spokesman added that the suspect named a 45-year-old Alhassan Ya’u, aka Kato, from Dogamare village in Ringim LGA as their gang member.

The suspects will be charged to court after the investigation.
