PLAY Airways, a low-budget provider working flights between america and Iceland, was set to announce the addition of a 3rd U.S. airport this morning, Tuesday, February 1.

In keeping with a launch from the airline, PLAY will fly a trans-Atlantic flight from Stewart Worldwide Airport within the City of New Windsor to Reykjavík, Iceland. From there, passengers can hook up with 22 European locations – Alicante, Spain; Amsterdam; Barcelona; Berlin; Bologna; Brussels; Copenhagen; Dublin; Gothenburg, Sweden; Gran Canaria, Spain; Lisbon; London; Madrid; Malaga, Spain; Mallorca, Spain; Paris; Prague; Salzburg, Austria; Stavanger, Norway; Stuttgart; Tenerife, Spain; and Trondheim, Norway.

Stewart Worldwide, a transformed navy base that simply accomplished a $30 million addition of a world terminal, is about 70 miles north of New York Metropolis in Orange County.

The airport, with shut proximity to NYC suburbs in northern New Jersey, japanese Connecticut and the New York counties of Rockland, Westchester and Putnam, is run by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The PA had all the time hoped Stewart would flip into the New York space’s fourth main airport, however it has but to materialize.

Stewart as soon as had home flights from American, Delta and JetBlue, in addition to trans-Atlantic flights on Norwegian Air. However all left the airport after reducing routes through the pandemic or, within the case of Norwegian Air, shutting down operations.

However which may change. All the way down to only one provider at one level, PLAY can be the fourth airline at Stewart and second worldwide provider. In mid-January, Norse Airways obtained tentative approval from the Division of Transportation to start service between Stewart and Oslo, Norway, although there isn’t any definitive begin date.

Final October, Frontier Airways started thrice-weekly service from Stewart to Miami, Orlando and Tampa. Allegiant Air can be working out of Stewart with seasonal service to Daytona Seaside, Orlando, Myrtle Seaside, Savannah, Tampa, St. Pete/Clearwater and Punta Gorda/Fort Myers.

PLAY – which is scheduled to begin service out of Boston Logan Worldwide Airport and Baltimore/Washington Worldwide later this spring – will begin its service out of Stewart on June 9.

To have fun its service from New York, PLAY is providing a particular introductory charge till February 7 of $109 on U.S. departing flights.
