GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Authorities say a person in Oregon attempting to guard his residence from a bear as an alternative fatally shot his brother by mistake, then killed himself.
Josephine County Undersheriff Travis Snyder mentioned the person known as 911 round 7 a.m. Tuesday and instructed dispatchers he had “unintentionally shot his brother whereas loading a gun” after being startled by the bear.

The Oregonian/OregonLive studies deputies went to the house in Sunny Valley, an unincorporated neighborhood off Interstate 5 within the southwest nook of the state. There they discovered a person useless from a gunshot wound.
Snyder mentioned they checked the agricultural residence and located a second man useless. He had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Sheriff’s officers didn’t instantly establish both man.
Oregon State Police and native deputies proceed to analyze the shootings.
