Open grazing ban: Gov Bala Mohammed warns colleagues, Nigeria’s elite

Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed on Monday advised his colleagues and the elites in Nigeria to tread with warning over the ban on open grazing.

He spoke on the ongoing 2021 Annual Convention of the Nigerian Bar Affiliation (NBA) – Part on Public Curiosity and Improvement Regulation (SPIDEL) in Ibadan.

Mohammed mentioned although he was not against the prohibition “the newborn should not be thrown away with the unhealthy water”.

The governor noticed that open grazing was a type of occupation to some ethnic teams.

He mentioned the ban should be finished in a persuasive method that might be useful to the herders, farmers and merchants.

“We, the elites, should be very cautious, to not arrange our individuals which have been residing in peace towards one another.

“We should information our utterances as governors, attorneys and each different career. Disintegration could cause a number of humanitarian crises which are unimaginable.”

Mohammed suggested Nigerians to dialogue to make sure the security situation in the country doesn’t worsen.
