Nasarawa State has recorded at least 800 cholera cases across 13 local government areas.

Dr Ibrahim Alhassan-Adamu, Director of Public Healthcare in the state’s Ministry of Health said the majority of the cases have been treated and discharged from health facilities.

Adamu told Daily Trust that the state government is yet to curb the spread of the disease due to practice of open defecation which was still rampant among the people, especially those in riverine areas.

He said they’ve procured drugs for the treatment of the disease and have also embarked on an awareness campaign to enlighten the people on the danger of open defecation and drinking unclean water.
