IYC suspends #OccupyNigerDelta protest

The three day #OccupyNigerDelta protest organized by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, has been suspended by leaders of the group.

The protest took off after the group threatened a complete shutdown of presidency actions within the Niger Delta together with the closure of the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt and their state workplaces throughout the area if the Federal Authorities fails to reconstitute the board of the Niger Delta Improvement Fee (NDDC) in 30 days.

The protest which has been on since Wednesday Could 26, was suspended by 5pm on Friday, Could 28, 2021, as confirmed in an announcement issued by IYC Deputy Nationwide President, Comrade Saviour Olali, and the Nationwide Spokesman, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe.

The assertion learn;

“After thorough examination of the progress made to date and in due session with vital stakeholders throughout the whole Ijaw nation and particularly with the management of the Ijaw Nationwide Congress (INC), Council hereby directs the suspension of the three-day lengthy protest with impact from 5pm immediately, Friday twenty eighth Could, 2021.

“The management of Council on the Zonal chapters and Clan ranges are hereby knowledgeable to behave accordingly and await additional directives on the best way ahead.”
