Islamic Cleric & 60 Others Allegedly Beat 14-Year-Old Student To Coma

We have sighted a report by the Daily Trust that stated how a 14-year-old student was beaten to a coma.

This boy went into a coma after he was subjected to severe beatings. He received these beatings from an Islamic cleric identified as Alfa Moshood and 60 others people.

Per the report, the cleric accused the student of stealing his locally made safe which is popularly known as ‘kolo’.

The incident happened on April 8, in the cleric’s Quranic centre at Ogidi. After regaining consciousness, the boy stated that the cleric flogged him severely with a ‘koboko’ before instructing about 60 people who were around at the time to flog him 10 strokes of the cane each.

He indicated that these 60 people continued to whip him with all their might until they found out that he has passed out and he indicated that he was held down on a table by some persons while being flogged.

As we speak, the cleric is nowhere to be found as he has vanished, however, authorities are doing whatever it takes to get him.

The case was reported at the National Human Right Commission, Kwara State branch and this was confirmed by a representative of the commission, Barrister Ahmed Rufai.

Meanwhile, a man has been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara State Command.

The man who is 65 years old and identified as Samuel Darisa was apprehended for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.

This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the command, Babawale Afolabi while briefing newsmen at the NSCDC headquarters in Ilorin.
