Akeredolu Grants 18 Prisoners Amnesty

Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has granted state pardon to 18 convicts as a part of celebrations of Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary.

Richard Olatunde, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, introduced this in a press release noting that the governor additionally commuted to life imprisonment 26 different inmates on dying row.

“In train of the powers conferred on him by paragraph (d) of sub-section (1) of Part 212 of the Structure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as Amended, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has granted State pardon to 18 convicted inmates.

“The Governor additionally dedicated to life imprisonment 26 different inmates who have been condemned to dying by the varied courts within the state. The convicts have been launched having proven regret and are of fine conduct on the correctional centres,” the assertion learn.

The governor urged the pardoned inmates to be of fine conduct and stay a crime-free life. He additionally urged members of the general public to not discriminate towards the pardoned inmates as they reintegrate into the society.
