Tolkien’s multi-volume novel. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed in New Zealand, in a process taking more than one year for principal photography alone, with pick-up shots occurring annually for the next four years.

Prior to the cast leaving the country, Jackson gifted Wood two gifts: one of the One Ring props used on the set and Sting, Frodo’s sword. He was also given a pair of prosthetic “hobbit feet” of the type worn during filming

He is the youngest member of the Lord of the Ring’s main cast. He played the role of Frodo, who was chronologically the oldest of the four hobbits in the Fellowship. However, this could be attributed to the One Ring’s ability to arrest age as it did for Bilbo.

In 2003, Wood was cast on the main role in the DTV film All I Want and also cameoed as ‘The Guy’ in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. The concluding chapter of the Rings trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was unveiled that December.

The film grossed in excess of $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office. At the 76th Academy Awards, the film received all 11 Academy Awards for which it was nominated, therefore holding the record for the highest Oscar sweep.

Wood was protected from abuse by his mother, who didn’t let him go to parties, but he said his peers were regularly “preyed upon” by those in power. “If you’re innocent you have very little knowledge of the world and you want to succeed,” Wood said. “People with parasitic interests will see you as their prey.”

He compared what he witnessed to the sex-abuse crimes carried out by the English TV personality Jimmy Savile, which became a scandal following his death. “You all grew up with Savile,” Wood said, speaking to the English paper. “Jesus, it must have been devastating.

Clearly something major was going on in Hollywood. It was all organized.” Allegations that senior Hollywood figures have been protecting child abusers gathered pace in recent years. Anne Henry, the co-founder of Bizparents, its group helped the child actors, said Hollywood is currently sheltering around 100 active abusers and said a “tsunami” of claims was beginning.

Corey Feldman, another former child actor who said in films such as Gremlins, The Goonies and Stand by Me in the 1980s, has said that as a young teenager he was “surrounded” by abusers. He told a British tabloid that when he was 14 and 15 he had been “leching around like vultures” in 2012. The actor suffered mental health problems, alcoholism, and drug addiction. he added that he had spared similar experiences while growing up because his mother had not let him attend parties.
