Bandits kidnap traditional ruler

Suspected bandits have kidnapped Dr. Mahmud Ahmed Aliyu, the Dodo of Wawa (Gbere) in Niger State.

The standard ruler was kidnapped from his palace in Wawa, a suburb of New Bussa, the headquarters of Borgu native authorities space, within the presence of his wives round 9:30pm on Saturday, September 4.

It was gathered that the bandits carrying weapons and cutlasses, stormed the palace, went straight to his house and whisked him away to an unknown vacation spot.

Aliyu is the sixteenth Dodo of Wawa and a PhD holder in Environmental Science from the Malaysian Nationwide College, Kuala Lumpur.

The household has, to this point, not obtained any name from his abductors.

Spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, stated that police and vigilantes have been already on the paths of the bandits to rescue the district head.

“The Police tactical crew and members of the vigilante of the world have been deployed for manhunt of the hoodlums, with a view to rescue the sufferer and arrest the culprits,” the PPRO added.
