Who is Mark Schlissel, the former president of the University of Michigan?

Mark Steven Schlissel was born on November 24, 1957, in New York Metropolis, New York, the U.S.  in a conventional Jewish family.

Schlissel is a graduate of Princeton College in 1979 and Johns Hopkins Faculty of Drugs in 1986 the place he obtained a BA in Biochemical Sciences and MD diploma and a Ph.D. in Physiological Chemistry respectively.

Schlissel was named the 14th president of the College of Michigan on July 1, 2014, following the retirement of Mary Sue Coleman. It was a place he held for nearly eight years.  Throughout his time period in workplace, the College of Michigan’s tuition rose to the best of any American public college.

Schlissel was fired as President of the College of Michigan by the College’s Board of Regents on January 15, 2022, after an investigation by the Board of Regents of the College of Michigan.

Schlissel is married to the gorgeous Monica Schwebs who’s an environmental and vitality lawyer. The couple has 4 youngsters.
