Who Is Lorraine Badoy? Faces Suspension Threat At Ombudsman

Lorraine Badoy is a government officer in the Philippines, according to Peoplaid. She is not yet included on Wikipedia but based on her popularity, it will not be long before she is featured on the website.

Badoy is presently the Presidential Communications Operations Office’s undersecretary (PCOO). She also serves on the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

She is currently in the news after red-tagging Vice President Leni Robredo and members of the progressive Makabayan bloc in Congress.

On Tuesday, January 6, Robredo gave a news conference and outlined her recommendations to boost the administration’s anti-narcotics campaign.

In her address, the vice president called for an end to “Oplan Tokhang,” or the house-to-house “knock and plead” operation organized by police against suspicious individuals.

Badoy retaliated against Robredo with a series of Facebook posts in which she slammed the vice president and urged her to “resign.” Badoy also called Robredo “incompetent” for allegedly impeding the government’s drug battle.

Similarly, a health worker union filed administrative and criminal complaints against anti-communist task force spokesman Lorraine Badoy.

A case was filed against her with the Office of the Ombudsman for associating the group with the communist armed movement.

On Monday, April 11, the Alliance of Health Workers (AHW) marched to the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) to submit charges.

The charges were against the government anti-communist task force (NTF-ELCAC) spokesman Lorraine. They also seek the immediate revocation of her physician license, according to Rappler.

They marched to the Ombudsman, pleading with the government body to impose sanctions on the NTF-Elcac spokesperson Badoy.

The body demanded immediate preventive suspension, dismissal from the service, and cancellation of civil service eligibility. And also permanent disqualification from entering any government service.

Two independent groups filed complaints against her in March alone. Following the red-tagging of Robredo and members of the progressive Makabayan bloc, 26 activists and concerned citizens filed three separate cases against Badoy.

They accused her of multiple violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

According to the organization, early this month, Badoy falsely identified AHW as a brainchild of the CPP-NPA-NDF in order to infiltrate the government. She made the aforementioned comment on the NTF-Facebook ELCAC’s page.

They also claim that they are in the midst of a pandemic, and have put their lives and health at stake in order to combat the deadly virus.

“Many of the coworkers died fighting COVID-19, and yet they are being cruelly assaulted and accused of being terrorists by Ms. Badoy, stated Cristy Donguines.
