William McChord Hurt was an American Academy Award-winning actor.

He was born on March 20, 1950, in Washington, D.C., to the son of Claire Isabel and Alfred McChord Hurt.

Hurt completed Middlesex School and later earned a bachelor’s in Theology from  Tufts University. He studied at the Juilliard School and began acting on stage in the 1970s.

William Hurt made his film debut in 1980 as a troubled scientist in Ken Russell’s science-fiction feature Altered States, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year.

Hurt was a private pilot and owner of a Beechcraft Bonanza.

What type of cancer did William Hurt have?

In May 2020, it was announced that the Award-winning actor William Hurt had terminal prostate cancer that had spread to the bone.

However, he underwent chemotherapy and survived.

The cancer survivor, Hurt died of natural causes on March 13, 2022, at age 71.

Hurt had four children; one with Jennings, two with Heidi Henderson, and one with French actress, Sandrine Bonnaire.
