The Birth Of Ooni Of Ife Was Prophesied- Ooni’s Father Opens Up
The father of Ooni of Ife, John Oluropo Ogunwusi has opened up on the strange circumstances surrounding the birth of his son, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Oluropo remarked in an interview with BBC News Yoruba that since his son is king, his son has assumed the role of the father in the traditional context.
He explained that he and his wife were out one day when they were contacted by a prophet who foretold the birth of their son.
The prophet informed the king’s father that their child would be the most renowned in the family if he was born at exactly 1 a.m. He claims that after then, he never set his sight on the prophet again.
Oluropo’s father explained that when the child was born he was aware that his the child would be king and that his head should never be smacked.
When the time came to select a king, Ooni’s dad who claimed to have three sons disclosed that all of his brothers except Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi turned down the invitation to be king.
The Father went on to say that when the king was a child, he learned things faster and didn’t need to be trained in order to master a task.
