Teachers To Pay Rent For Staying In Government Bungalows – GES

The Ghana Education Service in the Western Region has given teachers note that their remuneration will be reduced by 10%.

A GES circular circulating on social media, written by Mrs. Felicia Agyeibea Okai, Director of Education in the Western Region, alluded to a Ministry of Finance circular dated May 15, 2006, in conjunction with the payment.

Teachers who work at a school or a government bungalows are asked to pay ten percent of their base wage to use the government housing, according to her.

“I, therefore, write to inform you that with effect from 1st March 2022 all Teachers/Staff occupying School/Government bungalow are to pay 10% of their basic salary,” she noted.

In other news, Afia Schwarzenegger, a Ghanaian socialite, made headlines again following the funeral ceremony of her late dad which transpired over the weekend in Kumasi.

The actress stated that the burial, which was attended by major politicians, actors, media figures, and other Ghanaian artists, cost a hefty GHS200,000.

Afia used social media to thank some of her coworkers and businesses who came out to express support for the funeral, revealing that the total cost of the funeral is GHS200,000.

She further revealed that Dr. Kwaku Oteng, a business magnate, handed her about GHS60,000 for funeral expenses, and also Fadda Dickson of Despite Media Group, who provided a significant sum.

PressInformant had also reported that Chairman Wontumi ‘Chelsea Wura’ also contributed GHS4,000 when he made presence at the funeral ceremony.
