According to media reports, the local police have confirmed that bullets were fired there at around 9.30 a.m. local time, and that a man died as a result of his injuries.

Was Ripudaman Singh Malik From Punjab?

In India, Ripudaman Singh Malik was a native of Punjab. He allegedly belonged to the Babbar Khalsa, a terrorist organization responsible for several strikes in the Punjab.

Malik first worked as a cab driver in Canada after immigrating there in 1972. When Vancouver’s Khalsa Credit Union (KCU) had 16,000 members and more than $110 million in assets, he advanced to the position of president.

In British Columbia, Canada, he also held the position of president of the Satnam Education Society. He was in charge of directing the running of the Khalsa schools, which provided teaching in Canadian curriculum as well as Punjabi and Sikh history.

In December 2019, the Narendra Modi administration agreed to remove his name from the “blacklist,” ending a 25-year absence from India.

The Indian government said in September 2019 that 312 Sikhs with residences abroad had been removed from the 35-year-old blacklist.

What Was Ripudaman Singh Malik’s Age?
Ripudaman Singh Malik was 75 years old when he passed away. He was one of those accused of bombing Air India Flight 182 Kanishka in 1985.

The accusations of a plot and mass murder against Singh and his co-accused Ajaib Singh Bagri were dropped in 2005.

He spent four years in prison before being found guilty. Later, he asked for $9.2 million in legal fees, but a judge in British Columbia rejected his requests for payment.

Raminder and Ripudaman Singh Malik were wed. He had five children total with his wife, three of whom were sons: Jaspreet, Hardeep, and Darshan.

After the 1985 Air India bombing, his family endured years of litigation over the money used to pay for his legal fees.

Indian Express reports that the government claimed compensation from the family, claiming they had intended to hide his riches so he would qualify for legal aid prior to the beginning of his terrorism trial in 2003.

Ripudaman was cleared of all murder and conspiracy charges on March 16, 2005, but he opposed efforts by the government to recover the more than $5 million it borrowed to cover the costs of his defense team’s expenses.

The loss of his father was verified by Jaspreet Malik in a post on social media.

He added that his father was committed to his family, which consisted of his wife, five children, and eight grandchildren.

“The media will always identify him for the Air India bombing,” Jaspreet stated.

I hope today’s tragedy has nothing to do with how the media and RCMP handled the court’s decision, he continued.
