Police detain journalist in Zamfara
The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested the state correspondent of Management Newspapers, Comrade Umar Maradun.
Maradun was arrested in his house city, Maradun, within the early hours of Saturday twenty third July 2022 and delivered to the State Legal Investigation Division in Gusau, the state capital.
The officers of the Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, and a few members of the correspondents chapel went to the State Legal Investigation Division for his bail however had been refused.
The police authorities are but to provide causes for his arrest.
When contacted, the state Commissioner of Police, Ayuba N. Elkanah stated he would look into the case and know what to do.
Elkana stated, “I’ll look into the matter”.
The NUJ chairman, regardless of promising Maradun would return to the police on Monday if launched, was turned down.
