Police Arrest Two Robbers Posing As Uber Drivers To Rob Passengers Of N2.4 Million In Lagos

Two suspected armed robbers have reportedly been arrested by the police in Lagos for posing as Uber drivers just to rob passengers in Lagos.

Abiodun Lawal, the State Commissioner of Police confirmed the news on Monday 14th March 2022 during a brief press at the police headquarters in Ikeja.

According to him, the two suspects, Sunday Gabriel, 29, and 24-year old Kenneth Agbehi, held their female victim hostage in February and demanded her ATM cards as well as cash and other valuable items she had on her.

The police then tracked down the two suspects and were busted at their hideout on Victoria Island. The police retrieved a locally made pistol, three live cartridges, one Toyota Camry with registration number AHL 571 FE, and one Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration number EPE 32 GG.

The suspects thereafter unlawfully withdrew the sum of N2,400,000 from the victim’s bank account. Following a diligent investigation carried out by police operatives, the suspects were nabbed in their hideout on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island where they were planning another operation“, he said during the briefing.

The suspects, however, confessed to the crime as well as others they have committed in the past. They are currently in police custody undergoing an investigation after which they will be arraigned before the court.
