Police arrest suspended DCP, Abba Kyari

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested suspended Deputy Police Commissioner, Abba Kyari, after being declared wanted.

According to The PUNCH, he was arrested alongside four others on Monday.

Kyari was arrested hours after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA declared him wanted over alleged drug trafficking.

The Punch reports that a senior police officer at the Force headquarters said Kyari was handcuffed and arrested.

“He has been arrested. He was handcuffed and will be handed over to the appropriate agency. He was not given any preferential treatment,” the senior officer said.

The Force spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, also confirmed Kyari’s arrest.

In response to an inquiry to confirm Kyari’s arrest, Adejobi said; “Yes and four others. A statement will be issued soon.”
