A Deacon of the Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI) in Sunyani, Emmanuel Owusu Ansah has urged churches to desist from exploiting church workers.

Many are of the opinion that working in the church as a cleaner, an instrumentalist or a singer is a way of rendering service to the church and to God and does not need any sort of payment but the Deacon of an Apostolic church is saying otherwise.

According to the Deacon and head of the church drummers, the problems most instrumentalists face are unbearable despite their usefulness in the church.

“One thing I would like churches in Ghana to do is to give a stipend to their instrumentalists and other staff who are working for the church. They are the ones who make service beautiful all the time and we should not disregard them”, Mr. Owusu Ansah in an exclusive told Ark FM, a Kumasi-based radio station.

“The government can also partner the churches to pay some essential service providers to the church since they are Ghanaians to reduce the employment rate we are facing”, Mr. Ansah continued.

“It will surprise you that a pastor will attack the appearance of instrumentalist because that person simply has no money to buy clothes to look presentable”, the Deacon concluded.
