In Switzerland, Mark Fleischman, who ran the renowned New York nightclub Studio 54 in the 1980s, committed legally induced suicide to end his life. The person who broke the tragic news to the public was his former coworker.

In 1980, Fleischman, then 82, gained control of the club and oversaw it until 1986.

Later, in 2016, he had a severe illness for which doctors were unable to diagnose the cause. He was unable to move or take care of himself in many ways.
