Marie Antoinette was the last queen of France before the French Revolution. She was born on November 2, 1755, in Austria, as the youngest daughter of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis I. She married Louis XVI, the future king of France, in 1770, when she was 14 years old.

She was known for her lavish lifestyle and unpopular policies, which contributed to the public discontent that led to the overthrow of the monarchy in 1792. She was executed by guillotine on October 16, 1793. Marie Antoinette was born an Archduchess of Austria and was the penultimate child and youngest daughter of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis I. She became dauphine of France in May 1770 at age 14 upon her marriage to Louis-Auguste, heir apparent to the French throne. On May 10th, 1774, her husband ascended the throne as Louis XVI and she became queen.
