Lily Conroy, a 17-year-old teen from Springville, lived just a few blocks away from Masao Kaanga, her lover. Masao Kaanga, who was 19 at the time, went to the same high school as Lily Conroy. On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, the two had a minor disagreement that resulted in their tragic breakup. Masao called his mother the next day to say he’d be at the park, just to let her know where he’d been.

Police later discovered both juveniles in their car parked at the park. Lily Conroy was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, who then turned the pistol on himself. The brutal murder-suicide attempt horrified the Sprigville community, which is currently attending a memorial service for the fallen souls on May 19th.

Blue ribbons were also placed along the treelines of the Wildflower Way to remember the late Lily’s blue eyes. Her classmates also dressed up for class on Sunday to show their respect for her departed soul.

Masao Kaanga graduated from Springfield High School last year, and he and Lily split up the day before on Tuesday because to personal issues. He encountered Lily in their parked car and fatally shot her before firing a shot at himself.
