Slade McLaughlin was a founding shareholder and CEO of the Philadelphia law firm McLaughlin & Lauricella, P.C. He was one of the most successful personal injury and negligence attorneys in Philadelphia.

Mr. McLaughlin has focused his practice since 1992 on representing people who have been seriously injured as a result of accidents, sexual molestation, or poor medical care.

Since 2003, Slade McLaughlin has been named to each edition of The Best Lawyers in America, and has been named to Philadelphia Magazine’s “Super Lawyers” as a repeat “Top 10” Pennsylvania “Super Lawyer.”

The cause of death of Slade McLaughlin, a founding shareholder, and CEO of the Philadelphia Law Firm, McLaughlin & Lauricella, has not been disclosed to the general public. However, rumors are circulating that suicide might be linked to his death.

He was admitted to practice law in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, and New York in 1982, 1983, 1985, and 1988. Slade spent 17 years at The Beasley Firm in Philadelphia, where he learned from and became partners with Jim Beasley, Sr., a famed trial lawyer.

 

 

Mr. McLaughlin worked for one of Philadelphia’s larger medical malpractice defense companies for the first ten years of his career, representing physicians, dentists, hospitals, and other healthcare providers in professional liability lawsuits.

Mr. McLaughlin graduated from Ursinus College with a B.A. in 1979 and then went on to Villanova University School of Law, where he graduated in the top 15% of his class with a J.D. in 1982.

He graduated from Harvard Law School’s Mediation Training Program for Lawyers in June 2004. The National Board of Trial Advocacy certified him as a civil trial attorney.

Slade Mclaughlin was happily married to her partner, Caroline McLaughlin. She met her wife, a former model, while at law school.

The couple has two sons together. Both of McLaughlin’s boys will be entering Harvard in the autumn, and both are national champion squash players.

While still in law school, Mr. McLaughlin and Paul A. Lauricella founded McLaughlin & Lauricella, P.C., after Beasley’s death.
