Ibrahim, a 1946-year-old political newcomer, joined the People’s Justice Party in 2006. (PKR). He soon received the position of general treasurer for the party.

As a member of the People’s Justice Party, the 75-year-old was elected to the Selangor State Assembly and Malaysia’s Parliament in 2008 and 2013, respectively (PKR). From 2008 to 2014, he was the state’s chief minister.

His second inning in politics was full with controversy despite him being one of the most prominent and important leaders in the state. In 2014, he declared his independence, and the party expelled him.
