Head of states, President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a directive that the ban on Twitter be lifted after about 8 months.

President Buhari’s directive was disclosed by Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement and Director-Primary Nationwide Data Know-how Enchancment Firm (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE.

In a press launch on Wednesday, January 12, in Abuja, Kashifu mentioned that the approval was given following a memo written to Buhari by his Minister of Communications and Digital Financial system, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim.

“The Federal Authorities of Nigeria (FGN) directs me to inform most of the people that President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has authorised the lifting of the suspension of Twitter operation in Nigeria environment friendly from 12am tonight, thirteenth January 2022.

The approval was given following a memo written to the President by the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Financial system, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim.

Twitter operations in Nigeria have been suspended in June of 2021, days after Buhari’s tweet was deleted.
