On January 3, 2020, Jelena Ostapenko’s father, Jevgenijs Ostapenko, passed away from an unknown cause.

It is not clear if he had been diagnosed of diabetes before his demise. His cause of death was not stated.

Jevgēnijs, during his lifetime, was a professional footballer for FC Metalurh Zaporizhya in Zaporizhia, Ukraine.

Who Is Jevgēnijs’ Daughter Jelena Ostapenko?

Jeļena Ostapenko was born on June 8, 1997.

Jelena is a tennis player who has achieved a career-high of world No. 5 in singles, and world No. 17 in doubles.

At the 2017 French Open Jelena won the singles title.

She emerged as the first Latvia player to win a Grand Slam singles tournament and the first unseeded player to win the French Open. The last time the title was claimed was in 1933.

As an active member of the Latvia Fed Cup team, Jelena won seven singles and eight doubles titles on the ITF Women’s Circuit.

She also won the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, junior singles category.

Jelena’s mother has been he coach and her father served as a fitness trainer until his demise.

She is regarded as a ball, hit winner and her style as “risky, aggressive, fun tennis”.
