Jonathan Michael Batiste was born on November 11, 1986, in Metairie, Louisiana, United States. His father was Michael Batiste. Jon was brought up in Kenner, Louisiana.
Jon Batiste schooled at St. Augustine High School and New Orleans Center for Creative Arts with Trombone Shorty in New Orleans where he graduated in 2004.
