Nelson Effiong, a former senator from Akwa Ibom State’s Eket Senatorial District, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

At about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, three-armed hoodlums attacked his lounge, a preferred hangout alongside Oron Highway in Uyo, opening fireplace on shoppers within the institution, following which the Senator was dragged away.

A number of patrons of the bar had been harm on account of the assault.

A watch witness mentioned;

“He was later whisked away by the gunmen in a Toyota Camry automobile to an unknown vacation spot.”

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) within the state, SP Odiko Macdon additionally confirmed the event, saying;

“The command is in receipt of the report and investigation is ongoing to get to the foundation of the matter”.
