Former President Mahama Refutes Abronye’s ‘Coup’ Allegations

Former President John Mahama has dismissed allegations of attempting to stage a coup, as claimed by Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, better known as Abronye DC.

The maverick politician was detained by the Accra Regional Police Command on Tuesday evening as a result of the charge.

After being arraigned in court, he was given bail in the amount of GHC100,000 with two sureties.

He had pleaded not guilty to two charges of spreading false information in order to cause fear and panic, as well as offensive behavior conducive to a breach of the peace.

Well, a statement from the office of Mr. Mahama has refuted the allegation saying “H.E John Dramani Mahama has not met with any group of people, let alone a terrorist group, to plot to stage a coup d’etat.”

The statement signed by Aid to the former President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari continue to disclose that “This is not the first time Abronye has made such despicable and reprehensible allegations and caused same to be published about President Mahama and many other leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”
