Edo Govt condemns planned coronation of ‘Sultan of Edo State’; says it is illegal, sacrilegious and a threat to peace security

The Edo State Authorities has condemned, in sturdy phrases, the deliberate coronation of Idriss Addano as a result of the ‘Sultan of Shuwa Arab of Edo State’.

A press launch signed by the Secretary to the State Authorities, SSG, Osarodion Ogie, described the purported switch as illegal, sacrilegious and menace to peace and security throughout the state.

“The Edo State Authorities has been inundated with complaints from indigenes and residents of the state over the purported switch to embark on the coronation of 1 Idriss Addano as ‘Sultan of Shuwa Arab of Edo State,” the assertion study.

“The Edo State Authorities must state as follows: That whether or not or not or not this event is held on the said, or one other location contained in the state, it would characterize a direct assault on the traditions, custom-made and custom of the people of Edo State, by individuals who clearly have sinister motives and attempt to abuse the well-known Edo hospitality by their act of sacrilege

“That it is a potential threat to the peace and security of Edo State, with the aptitude to set off a breakdown of laws and order as residents of the state usually tend to be provoked by the obnoxious ceremony

“Under the Edo State Typical Rulers and Chiefs Laws, it is an offence for anyone to proclaim himself, or allow himself to be proclaimed as a result of the holder of any standard title not acknowledged beneath the said laws and/or with out the approval of the appropriate authorities.

“The state authorities hereby wants to ensure all concerned that company and decisive movement will doubtless be taken to cease the actualisation of this illegal and sacrilegious act and that all people found to have been involved throughout the conception and/or execution would face the whole wrath of the laws

“The Edo State Authorities, subsequently, calls on all residents to be calm, law-abiding and leisure assured that authorities is firmly on excessive of the situation,” the assertion assured.
