Catherine Bush CBE was born on July 30, 1958, in Bexleyheath, United Kingdom. Her mother Hannah Daly Bush was an Irish staff nurse, while her father Robert Bush was an English doctor. She grew up alongside her elder brothers, John Carder Bush and Paddy Bush.

Kate Bush had earlier trained at Goldsmiths College karate club. She taught herself the piano at the age of 11 and also studied the violin. She attended the Catholic girls’ school, St Joseph’s Convent Grammar School. She started writing songs at 11.

Kate Bush released her debut album, The Kick Inside, in 1978. At the age of 19 in 1978, she topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks with her debut single “Wuthering Heights”. This made her the first female artist to achieve a UK number one with a self-written song.

Kate Bush made history as the first British solo female artist to top the UK album charts. She was also the first female artist to enter the album chart at number one. A recipient of several significant honours, she has been nominated for 13 British Phonographic Industry accolades, won for Best British Female Artist in 1987, and has been nominated for three Grammy Awards.

Kate Bush received an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music in 2002. For her services to music, Kate was appointed a CBE in the 2013 New Year Honours. She has also received three different nominations in 2018, 2021 and 2022, for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Kate Bush tied the knot with Dan McIntosh in 1992. She is the mother of a son, Albert McIntosh.
