Navy Captain Christopher Osondu was appointed Army Administrator of Cross River State, Nigeria in August 1998 in the course of the transitional regime of Normal Abdulsalami Abubakar, handing over energy to the elected civilian governor Donald Duke in Could 1999. Shortly after, he was retired by the Federal Authorities, together with all different former navy ministers, governors and directors.
In November 2001, he was elected Vice Chairman (North) of the Folks’s Democratic Celebration (PDP) in Abia State. In December 2002 he left the PDP. Within the 2003 elections he was a senatorial candidate of the Nationwide Democratic Celebration (NDP) in Abia North.
