Two masked suspects looted a jewelry-repair store in Southern California this week after ramming a suspected stolen automobile into the storefront, in line with police.

The housebreaking occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jewellery and Restore Heart in Escondido, about 30 miles north of San Diego, police mentioned.

The 2 males used a white Volkswagen SUV that authorities consider was stolen two days earlier from Oceanside, which is about 20 miles away from Escondido.

As soon as inside, one of many burglars used an ax to interrupt show circumstances and steal jewellery and money.

Police described each suspects as Hispanic male adults, one sporting a grey Nike sweatshirt and the opposite sporting a black sweatshirt and blue denims.

A number of California cities, together with San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, have seen a spate of “smash-and-grab” robberies and retail thefts in latest months.

The California Freeway Patrol mentioned final week that its Organized Retail Crime Process Power has arrested greater than 370 suspects and recovered $19.7 million in stolen merchandise since 2019.
