ATHENS (Reuters) – One individual was injured and several other buildings have been broken by an explosion in central Athens that led to a fireplace early on Wednesday, officers and witnesses stated.

One individual has suffered burns and has been transferred to hospital, the top of staff on the Nationwide Middle for Emergency Care, Giorgos Mathiopoulos, advised Skai TV.

It was not instantly clear what triggered the blast or the fireplace, a fireplace brigade official stated.

“Now we have a fireplace, there was a blast earlier than that,” stated a fireplace brigade commander on the scene.

“We don’t know what brought about it but, there’s prolonged materials harm, and a fireplace began,” a fireplace brigade official advised Skai TV.
