Rapper ASAP Ferg is a native of New York City’s Harlem neighborhood. Members of Ferg’s A$AP Mob, A$AP Rocky and A$AP Yams, had finalized their agreements in 2011—two years earlier.

Along with his solo projects, he is a member of the hip hop group A$AP Mob. It was through this group that he was offered a record deal by Polo Grounds and RCA, the same record labels that helped launch A$AP Worldwide.

He released Trap Lord, his debut studio album, on August 20, 2013, to positive reviews. Ferguson’s second studio album, Always Strive and Prosperous, was released on April 22, 2016.

His father, Darold Ferguson, operated a small business in Harlem where he printed t-shirts and logos for musicians like Teddy Riley, Heavy D, and Bell Biv DeVoe as well as record companies like Bad Boy Records.

Before he started his singing career, Ferguson first intended to start his own clothes company. Ferg was motivated to start his clothing and jewelry lines by his father, who passed away from kidney failure.
