Abuja Filmmaker Arrested For Purportedly Impersonating Regina Daniels
Richard Sylvanus, a filmmaker, has been arrested on suspicion of impersonating Regina Daniels, a Nollywood actress.
Sylvanus allegedly impersonated Regina Daniels on YouTube and Gmail, as well as defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians of N1 million. After Daniels’ lawyer reported the situation to the authorities, he was arrested.

DSP Josephine Adeh, a spokesman for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, confirmed the arrest. Adeh went on to say that the case is still being investigated.
She said;
“Sylvanus is in our custody. The police swung into action after getting a tip-off. He defrauded unsuspecting members of the public with an email, [email protected], and a Youtube account he opened to impersonate Regina Daniels.
“There is no relationship between the movie star and the Gmail and Youtube accounts used in perpetrating these criminal acts.
“Members of the public are, therefore, urged to take note and not fall victim to such snares as many other criminal ventures similar to this may be in existence. The matter is under diligent investigation.”
In other news, a female witness in the trial of Uduak Akpan, the man charged with murdering job seeker Iniubong Umoren, told the court how the accused reportedly lured her to his residence with a fraudulent work offer on December 5, 2020, and raped her.
Akpan allegedly killed Iniubong, a recent graduate, after enticing her to his residence with a fake employment offer.
The witness informed the court that she arrived at Akpan’s house in Uruan Local Government Area around 5 p.m. and left at 1 a.m. during the resumed trial.
“He said that in the farm, they deal on drugs and that the government knows about it, and before he employs anybody, he has to test the drugs on the person. I pleaded with him but he said that if the drug was too much on me, that there is a tonic water that he will give me to drink to flush the drug out of my system.
I was really begging him and he said if I wanted to go, I have to do as he said. He said I should stand up immediately and take the drugs.
He brought out three wraps of marijuana from his pocket. He lit two. He gave me one and showed me how to inhale it, while he was smoking one. I smoked the first one, nothing happened to me.
He lit the second one and was taking me round the compound and asking me if I could still recognise what was in front of me. I said yes.
He gave me the second one, and still nothing happened to me. He told me that I needed to help him, that he was high and needed to release. I started crying and begged him. But after, I removed my trouser and he raped me,” she said
According to the female witness, the accused compelled her to go unclad and he took shot of her nakedness.
“I was begging him to let me go. He now said I should undress totally. He took out his phone and snapped pictures of me naked. After that, he said I should wait, that he would call a bike to come and pick me up” she said
She added that she didn’t disclose what had transpired to anyone because her life was threatened by Mr Akpan.
The case was adjourned to January 14, 2022.
