Abba Kyari’s Bail Application Rejected By Court With Case Adjourned Till March

Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari has seen a bail application submitted by his lawyers reject by a court.

The bail application was rejected by a federal high court in Abuja and per a report by POLITICS NIGERIA, the Presiding judge, Inyang Ekwo stated in his ruling that the application has been affected by recent events.

This comes after another court granted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)’s plea to detain Abba Kyari for another 14 days to enable it to conclude its investigation.

The suspended police chief is currently in the custody of the police after he was declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA for drug trafficking.

He also allegedly tried bribing an official of the NDLEA with $61,000 to facilitate the release of seized cocaine. At an earlier court proceeding, his lawyers tried seeking bail for him based on health grounds.

The case is now adjourned till March 15 to hear Kyari’s application to demand his fundamental right enforcement.
