David Jolicoeur Parents: Who Are David Jolicoeur Parents?: David Jolicoeur, officially known as David Jude Jolicoeur and also known by his stage name, Trugoy the Dove and more recently Dave was an American rapper and producer.

He was a founding member of the hip-hop trio De La Soul and also a member of the Spitkicker collective. Jolicoeur was with De La Soul since it was launched in Amityville, Long Island during the 1980s.

Jolicoeur was born in Brooklyn but raised in the Amityville area of Long Island, where in high school, he met Vincent Mason (Pasemaster Mase) and Kelvin Mercer (Posdnuos).

The three decided to form a rap group, with each taking on distinctive names. De La Soul released their debut studio album, ‘3 Feet High and Rising, produced by Prince Paul in 1989.

Jolicoeur was widely recognized for his rap in the second verse of the popular Gorillaz song ‘Feel Good Inc.’ In 2010, their debut was added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for its historic significance.

The group, De La Soul changed the face of hip-hop in the late 80s and early 90s and was honored at the 2023 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles during a tribute to the genre but Trugoy (David Jolicoeur) was not onstage with his fellow bandmates.

David Jolicoeur died on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the age of 54. His passing was confirmed by his management team. No cause of death has been given for the rapper, who went by the stage name Trugoy the Dove.

However, the American musician had previously spoken publicly about his congestive heart failure in recent years. At the time of this writing, the family was planning his final funeral arrangement and the details are yet to be finalized.
